Personal Statement
The best way to know a man is to know the desires of his heart. My greatest desires are to walk in intimacy with the Lord through His Word and through prayer, to build edifying relationships, both with the Lord's people and with the lost, and to exercise the gifts that God has graciously given to me in order to glorify His Name and to grow His Kingdom. God has wonderfully provided opportunity for me to live out these desires over the last fourteen years, and I have been humbled in seeing much fruit, in both salvations and discipleship.
In addition to His sure calling and gracious spiritual gifts, God has also blessed me with a loving, supportive and godly wife. Though continually an active and growing member of our church, her greatest ministry is being my wife. God continually uses her to encourage, support and grow me as His child. Aside from my Lord Jesus, she is the greatest gift God has given to me.
The Bible is the source of my theology, as well as the source of my pastoral methodology. Scripture is God's revelation of Himself to man. It contains no errors and is the ultimate standard for all human conduct. I am committed to the preaching and teaching of God's word, to missions, and to personal evangelism. I focus on preaching expositional sermons with an emphasis on the clear application of God's word to the lives of God's people. My preaching style is strong, and upbeat with a twist of humor. I choose to cooperate in missionary endeavors, as well as other activities, with churches of like doctrine and faith. I fully affirm the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.

Salvation and Call to Ministry
I was saved at age eight, and walked diligently with the Lord until I was 13. After seven years of self-centeredness, and chastisement, I repented and re-committed my life to Him. Shortly thereafter I followed in believer's baptism and chose to become a member of Osborne Baptist Church in Eden, North Carolina. There, beginning in 1994, I began to serve the Lord through various outreach ministries. As I matured in my understanding, I began teaching and serving as a deacon and as a discipleship leader. In June of 1998, God called me to full-time vocational ministry, and in December of that same year, Penny and I prepared to move to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to begin my education. Serving in the capacity of a pastor/shepherd is my life-long commitment.
